Prehnite is a rare gemstone that forms as a result of hydrothermal action in mafic volcanic and was named after the Dutch Colonel Hendrik Von Prehn who discovered the stone in the 18th century. This stone has been given a number of other names over the years, including adelite, chiltonite, chrysolite of sage, coupholite, Karoo stone, grape jade and more.
