Christmas in Eureka Springs 2022

“Few places in this world look prettier in the snow than Eureka Springs” quote and picture from 40/29 Darby Bybee facebook page.

Eureka Springs is always beautiful no matter the time of year but I especially love it when it snows. Growing up in Texas, it was rare for us to see snow. It was always a big occasion when it did snow. So now, living here in Arkansas, I’ve seen it snow, every year that we have lived here but to me, it is still just as magical to me as when I was a kid. We didn’t get a snowstorm this time (well, not yet anyway, winter is just beginning really), but it was enough to cover the ground and there was snow on Christmas!

Poor Shenje wanted to go play in the snow so badly. With the temperatures below zero for several days in a row, we couldn’t let her play in snow like she usually does. I am a sucker for those puppy dog eyes though.

We also had a couple of unexpected visitors show up one day. I thought it was Krampus. I was wrong. By the way, I LOVE cows. I used to have my entire kitchen wallpapered in Holstein cow wallpaper, so I was pretty excited to see one in my front yard….in the mountains!

My granddaughter told me that she thinks our town is “Magic”. It sure looks magical through the lens of local photographer/artist Glen Couvillion‘s eye.

Here are a few pictures taken by The Palace Hotel in town.

This winter, we took a break from events and vending and just enjoyed the cooler weather and time at home. I made a lot of Christmas-themed jewelry and sold it in several stores in town too (Eureka Vintage & Outdoor, Living Hi Coffee & Treats in Holiday Island, and ES Living HI Coffee & Treats in Eureka Springs). We were a little worn out from such a busy year! We did decide to go out during the Living Windows and we dressed up and gave out tiny candy canes to the tourists in town. It was really fun to put smiles on everyone’s faces. We saw our friend Jodi who owns The Dragonfly Villa at Millhollow and it was so great to see her for a few minutes.

We love and appreciate all of the support you give us each and every year. I am now approaching my 10th year making jewelry and being the owner of The Steampunk Buddha. Happy New Year and well wishes to you all.
