If music is the food of love, play on!

“If music is the food of love, play on!” is the title of the latest art series at Brews in Eureka Springs Arkansas. This show runs through mid-March and all of the art there is available to buy.

The theme of this event was based on the Shakespeare play, Twelfth Night, or What You Will, a romantic comedy by William Shakespeare that is believed to have been written around 1601–1602 as a Twelfth Night entertainment for the close of the Christmas season. The play centers on the twins Viola and Sebastian, who are separated in a shipwreck. Viola (who is disguised as Cesario) falls in love with the Duke Orsino, who in turn is in love with Countess Olivia. Upon meeting Viola, Countess Olivia falls in love with her thinking she is a man.

If music be the food of love, play on;
Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting,
The appetite may sicken, and so die.

Artists were asked by curator John Rankine to create a piece that represents love and goes along with this quote.

“ENDLESS SERENADE”

This is my piece for the event titled “Endless Serenade”. I wanted to accentuate the “Play on” aspect of this quote so that is represented in the music flowing out of them and into the world. Their music notes are black and white but when they create music together it turns out magical. (Yes I do realize these people look a bit like Erik and I. I do love him to death lol.) I love doing these art events. It challenges me to try something new.

It is acrylic on canvas and glows in the black light. The size is 16×20 and it is framed.

This painting is tentatively sold, but I may offer prints in the future.
