Art You Can Afford $200 and Under Art Exhibition at BREWS
Art You Can Afford $200 and Under Art Exhibition at BREWS
I was invited to participate in the newest art show at Brews over the holiday. It was a lot of fun to paint several smaller pieces simultaneously for this group art exhibition at BREWS. Last year, I painted a couple of snowman pieces, and this year I wanted to do something a little different. I painted “Holiday Spirits”, ghosts doing mundane holiday-related things. I also painted a Gingerbread man baking gingerbread cookies. A little irony and a play on words for the holiday season. If you know me, you know I’m not the biggest fan of Christmas or the holidays in general, but I like the decorations and lights, so a little irony made me laugh while I painted these.
The two ghost paintings have sold, but during the holidays, I will be selling cards with these images on the cover in our Etsy shop.

“Gingerbread Shoppe”
After a few of the paintings sold, I painted a couple more, still keeping in my humorous theme. I also took an older piece I did last year, which also sold. “Splish Splah” and octopus in a bathtub. Prints for this piece are available HERE.

“Splish Splash”
Who has a cat that has never done this?? Not me. My cats love destroying the tree every year. So I painted this one called “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” which is EXACTLY what you know all of our cats are thinking when we bring out that box of glittery goodness.

“It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year”
And that leaves Frank, who I am actually happy did not sell. I am a HUGE fan of Frankenstein and have wanted to paint him for a while now. This piece is only 5×7 so its pretty small. “Have Yourself a Scary Little Christmas” features Frank as Santa sitting by a fire in his home.
Art You Can Afford $200 and Under
INFO on the opening by Curator John Rankine: To celebrate the holidays and support local artists, Brews presents “Art You Can Afford – $200 and Under”, an exhibition of local art opening Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 5–8 p.m.
Artists were invited to submit small or medium works in any theme or medium — the only rule: each piece is priced at $200 or less.
Come out, enjoy the evening, and support our creative community — you might just find the perfect piece of local art for yourself or a thoughtful holiday gift for someone special.
Thank you to Rebecca Becker for creating this show’s invitation and announcement.
This is the only picture I have of this art show. I took it from John Rankine’s Facebook page, so image credit goes to him. This picture features our friends Shaun and Shira Foust, who own the Evening Shade Inn, here in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. They have a unique take on the traditional Bed and Breakfast. If you are here in town, definitely consider staying with them.
