MIX IT UP

“Mix It Up” is the next group exhibition at Brews starting Wednesday, July 19, 2023, with an opening reception from 5 to 8 pm. Local artists were invited to produce one piece in any theme, as long as it incorporated more than one artistic medium.

Try something new, out of your comfort zone, …. like Mixed Media art! In the past, I tried my hand at some mixed-media steampunk jewelry that went over pretty well. However, my mind goes so fast that as soon as I do something I’m already on to the next thing, so mixed media wasn’t really in the forefront of my mind, for at least several years. So when I was asked by John to be a part of this “Mix It Up” event, I was pretty excited to see what I could come up with. Three different paintings later, 😪 I finally decided on what I should do. In the end, I had to go with steampunk because well…you know why. 😆 This piece has over $200 of materials involved, plus three pieces of original jewelry, made by me too, and it took me about 35 hours to do over the course of about 3 weeks. I am honored to be a part of this really awesome event and even more honored to have my art hung up among so many other really talented local artists.

The name of this piece is “Pollination Station #14”

“In a steampunk, dystopian time where climate change has destroyed our world, Pollination Stations keep the pollinators safe, to help rebuild the future of our planet.”
